Event Cinema Gold Class menu clearly labelled with gluten free options

Haitch and I went to the movies to see Les Miserables. We went gold class as the timing suited us better, even though I am not a fan of the huge seats in gold class. They are so far apart from each other that you may as well be at the movies on your own.

But gold class it was so we enjoyed a relaxing sit down before the movie in the lounge room and Haitch picked up the menu to order a drink. He was flicking through the menu (I don’t know why as he is on a diet and I am gluten free) and then he spied a little gluten free symbol! At a cinema? When many cafes don’t even bother?

Gluten free pizza! So I quickly went up to the bar to order a gluten free pizza to be delivered to my seat during the movie and a gluten free chocolate and berry brownie for dessert. I didn’t really need either of those but I felt Event Cinemas deserved my support of their gluten free labelled menu.

Like most places that sell gluten free pizza, there is no guarantee that the toppings are gluten free. So if you do decide to risk having a gluten free pizza, you will need to be mindful of the topping ingredients and ask a few questions. I asked about barbeque swirl and explained about malt vinegar. The person behind the counter checked the ingredients and said the list stated vinegar without saying which type of vinegar. So I chose another topping that didn’t have barbecue swirl. I have been sick before from eating gluten free food in a cafe and not checking the ingredients of the relish served on the side.

Well done to Event cinemas gold class on their menu. (And the movie was amazing.)

    • The movie was amazing. Loved the (well most of) the acting. Not a fan of Russell Crow and I am a bit disappointed in his casting of this very pivotal character but he didn’t deter. He just didn’t excite in the role. Have you seen it yet?
And BTW, I am now a fan of gold class :-)

  2. I really enjoyed it when we went to Gold Class and we had pizzas as well :-) I LOVED Les Mis, and actually was presently surprised by Russell Crowe. I think my expectations were pretty low of him! Anne Hathaway was amazing I thought!

^ YES TO THIS. We used to have hand-me-down recliners in our lounge room and I was excited to finally get rid of them late last year because Mr. AA & i could finally snuggle together on a couch! Big recliners are over-rated.

Good on you for supporting the selection on offer despite not “needing” the food – I agree that when you want options made available to you, you need to show support/encouragement when they are!

loved this blog – I don’t go to the cinema much but when I do I pay extra for the bigger seats as they have a smooth surface I can wipe clean rather than the velour style covers. An amazing idea to be able to get food delivered to the seat – and what’s more gf!
